Most everyone that may have a bad case of "stinky breath" probably knows it. With a few simple steps, its easy to get rid of that bad breath if it's not a medical or dental issue. The main steps are: eating right and maintaining a daily oral hygiene routine.

The Main Reasons For Bad Breath

The most common cause of bad breath is the leftover food that can get stuck on or in between your teeth after eating. For people who eat a diet high in protein, it is not unusual for them have more occurrences of bad breath because of the longer metabolic break down of the higher proteins. People who eat a diet that is rich in fresh fruits and vegetables are less likely to get bad breath, because this type of diet is conducive to fresh and clean breath due to the quicker metabolic break-down of the fresher foods.

Best Way To Get Rid of Bad Breath

Usually the main cause of bad breath is bacteria feeding off of food particles that are left on or between your teeth after eating. The best way for anyone to get rid of bad breath is to invest in a good toothbrush, some floss and be persevering about your daily oral hygiene and dental exams.

It is important for you to also cleanse your tongue if you want to rid yourself of bad breath. The same bacteria that is hiding between your teeth can also burrow on the tongue. Tongue cleaning is necessary, in addition to brushing, for a thorough dislodging of the plaque and mucus. In clinical tests, tongue cleaning is proven to have reduced odors and bacteria by 75%!

Teeth should be brushed after every meal and flossing should be done at least once a day to help keep bacteria from building in the mouth. Using a disinfecting mouthwash can also keep odor causing bacteria and plaque build up by getting in the areas that are unreachable by toothbrush or floss.

It is also recommended that you quit smoking. Smoking is a huge cause of bad breath. Not only does your mouth smell, but your clothes, skin and hair as well. When you have bad breath that is caused by smoking the only real way to get rid of the odor for good is to quit for good. Not only will your breath freshen up, but your body will thank you also!

Bad breath can be caused by alcoholic beverages. It taints your breath and your whole body as well! Even if you brush your teeth, that alcohol will cause your breath to stink for several hours. So cut back, or simply stay away altogether from those beers, and you'll be smelling fresher than you ever dreamed.
