The newest member of the Sony family of mobile phones is an enhancement of its predecessor, the Sony Ericsson W880i. Both phones have excellent music capabilities, the real purpose of the “W” series. In both models the emphasis is on the phone’s ability to produce excellent musical entertainment instead of being a camera phone.
This is apparent in the fact that the camera on both phones lacks both auto focus and flash. On the positive side, the keypad on the Sony Ericsson W890i is easier to use than the one on the Sony Ericsson W880i. This easier to use keypad is beneficial not only for texting but also when it is necessary to dial a number that does not appear in your contact list or as part of your recent calls. The phone is still slim in style which makes it easy to carry just about anyplace you may go.
Another change that was made is that the Sony Ericsson W890i has a 2GB memory stick instead of the 1GB memory card that was in its predecessor. However in spite of the increase in memory, the W890i only holds 500 tracks instead of the 900 that the W880i was capable of holding. Of course, the W890i also has the potential to expand to 8GB to hold everything from Abba to Zappa.
For those who are interested in safety, the case on the Sony Ericsson W890i is a little more rounded. Although this does not customarily affect anyone’s choice in a phone, for those who have small children it may be of concern. The C902 replaces the K850i and has many of the same features. The major differences you will find between the two phones are the size of the screen and the type of flash for the phone.
The two phones have similar capabilities although there seem to have been some issues with the Xenon flash that was used with the Sony Ericsson K850i. Because of the touch screen capabilities of the Sony Ericsson C902, the screen is somewhat smaller than that of the K850i.
The additional commands are related to the camera itself and make it easier for users to operate the camera. In fact, the C902 has more camera features than any other mobile phone including the Sony Ericsson K850i. The differences in picture quality depend upon the users—some people feel the quality on the K850i is poor while others rave about the clarity.
Sony Ericsson had problems with the Xenon flash in the Sony Ericsson K850i, so when the Sony Ericsson C902 came on the market, they used an LED flash instead. Though the LED flash is usually a weaker flash than the Xenon, Sony Ericsson’s decision to eliminate it because of a series of problems was indeed a good one.
The LED flash that the Sony Ericsson C902 uses is not the regular LED flash and thus is of superior quality. The general consensus is that the flash works very well and the pictures are high quality for a camera phone. A comparison of the Sony Ericsson K805i and the Sony Ericsson C902 shows that the two cameras phones are quite similar as far as the features themselves.
On the other hand, reviews tend to show that the K902 was riddled with many problems including freezing and complete shutdown of the system. Whether these problems were rampant prior to SE’s decision to replace the “K” series with a newer and higher quality Cybershot camera phone is unclear.
Both of these cybershot phones have capabilities beyond that of camera phones, but the music, Bluetooth and other capabilities do not appear to differ between the Sony Ericsson C902 and the Sony Ericsson K805i. Samsung F400 Gets UK Release on O2 - Sgh F400

A new breed of music orientated Samsung phone has just been launched in the UK, the Samsung F400 is the first model from the manufacturer to feature a dual slide mechanism first seen in the popular Nokia N95 series handsets although in this case the slide reveals an oversized internal speaker rather than extra controls.
The Samsung F400 has been released on Orange contract so that consumers can take advantage of the network subsidies which discount the handset price and provide an allocated amount of free calling minutes and text messages.
The Samsung SGH-F400 Opus, although equipped with a 3 mega pixel camera and video player, is, it has to be said, more of a music phone than anything else.
The Samsung F400 is a successful combination of style, functionality and great sound, with its Bang & Olufsen ICE Power audio users can enjoy high quality sound wherever and whenever. The Walkman range of mobile phones has recently swelled to include a new sliding design handset with a difference, the Sony Ericsson W760i is the latest music focussed handset from the range and incorporates some new technology aswell as upgraded Walkman software and features.
The Sony W760i has been initially released in the UK on O2 contract tariffs, consumers are able to sign up to a 12 month or 18 month contract agreement and receive a W760i Walkman phone free of charge.
Walkman phones are a real alternative to carrying both an MP3 player and mobile phone, as technology has advanced it is now possible with the help of MicroSD cards to carry over 4000 individual songs on memory negating the need for both devices.
The Sony Ericsson W760i is a Global Walkman Phone and the first of its kind that really can be labelled as such. A Quad Band GSM handset with GPRS support, the Sony Ericsson W760 is HSDPA enabled, offering 3G Services, USB connectivity, EDGE Technology and Bluetooth Wireless with A2DP Stereo Support.
Messaging solutions include email and the browser comes with RSS Reader, the internal memory is 40MB with a 1GB memory stick included in the package for optional expansion and a phonebook capable of storing contact details for 1000 entries. Although initially launched on O2 in the UK, the Sony W760i will be picked up by further networks in the coming weeks, this is not a network exclusive mobile phone. The first edition to be released is the Intense Black model, the red edition is to be a network exclusive with Vodafone once UK stocks arrive.
