Accredited Life Degree

An accredited life experience degree has been created to offer accreditation to those individuals who have been in the workforce for many years with experience and knowledge of a certain area. Receiving certification does not always require seemingly endless amounts of classes, studying and test-taking, especially for a working adult who has been part of the workforce for years, a basic introduction course seems too simplistic. The answer that colleges started offering several years ago is an accredited degree in life experiences. This is a lucrative way to detour from time spent in class and a long commute. Different schools present different criteria for this program. Even so, the principles of awarding a degree in life experiences remain basically the same.

Each school will make a decision regarding how many years in a specific job one must have performed to receive credit toward this program. The nature of the job and the responsibilities involved will dictate for which courses a student can receive credit. For example, a person who has worked in the business world for a number of years may be eligible to receive credits for basic business, communications and writing courses to put toward an accredited life experience degree. The student will not be required to actually take the classes he is eligible for, rather, credit will be automatically awarded due to the nature of the job.

Another great perk of a receiving this degree is that the only cost to the student is the cost of the degree. In most cases, a student is responsible for the cost of the classes which he has tested out of, in effect. Another great advantage of working with a college to gain this certification is that if a college will not award credit, the student does have an opportunity to test out of courses. If a student feels the college is not awarding credit that should be awarded, most colleges will offer the option of taking a test in order to properly assess the knowledge a person has regarding a specific subject matter. Usually these are basic courses. If the student tests out of the basic course, the student can either choose to enroll in the follow-up course or pay to receive credit for the basic course. This way of attaining credits can lead to earning an accredited life experience degree or to receive credits that will transfer to another institution toward another program.

Some programs of this nature can be completed by filling out online forms or in conjunction with a local college. There is a great deal of information on the Internet regarding how to earn an accredited life experience degree. All students who wish to explore the possibility of receiving this certification should make sure the institution is truly accredited and has a good reputation for academics. "And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed." (Deuteronomy 31:8)
