Debt elimination secured means getting a loan from a bank to cover all or most of one's debts. This is a way to consolidate account balances without having to pay someone to do it on one's behalf. Also, because of using collateral, the interest rate will be lower. Getting a loan to cover past balances will depend on what is used for collateral and how the income versus monthly liabilities determine the borrower's ability to pay. These are both things that must be disclosed when applying for a loan.
The most important thing to organize before applying for a loan is a listing of liabilities and assets. Determine what will be used for collateral and appraise its value. It is not possible to borrow more money than the collateral item's value. Even if approved for the amount that is needed, make sure it's the best interest rate available. The whole point of debt elimination secured is to consolidate multiple debts into one payment with the lowest possible interest rate. Finding a lower interest rate through a present credit card or some other means would be a better choice if the secured plan will not provide a lower interest rate. Don't pay any more than necessary for the plan to eliminate excess borrowed credit.
Seek to get the whole amount needed to pay off the multiple accounts with the debt elimination secured plan, and figure out a plan for paying any left over balance. Plan on eliminating all of the balances as soon as possible, using the money from the loan to pay off the oldest and highest interest bearing accounts first. This will help dig out of the financial hole faster. Paying the loan on time or early will help even more to establish good credit and a good relationship with the bank from whom the loan was received.
God commands us to pay all our debts in full. The trust should never be broken from the lender to the borrower. Betraying that trust of the people who have lent money results in needless guilt. Ask God for the words to say to them and ask for their forgiveness sincerely including them in the plan to become debt free. Elimination of the burden of being indebted to others is the ultimate goal of debt elimination secured plans. God wants us to live a life concentrated on Him not our minimum monthly payments. Create a plan that will allow living a comfortable life, but without a renewed weight of financial indebtedness. "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world, ..they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning" (2 Peter 2:20).
