3 Ways to Waste Your Money on Ab Exercise Equipment

By Alexa Bjorkin

Having those sexy six pack abs you so desire is quite attainable once you understand how your body works and what has the most impact.

With there being so many ab miracle machines and what not on the market, it's pretty hard to find out which ones work for you and which ones will waste a lot of time and money, especially since most don't have an easy trial offer.

That's why I'm here to tell you 3 ways you can lose a ton of money on purchases of ab exercise equipment in hopes that you won't do it.

1. Purchasing a gimmicky ab rocker contraption from a late night infomercial instead of investing your money in a stability ball.

This is what those ab gimmicks DON'T do:

-work every muscle in your core (no matter what the company tells you)

-burn belly fat

-give you anymore of a workout than a standard crunch that you can do for free

This is what the stability ball DOES do:

-causes you to utilize even the deepest of your core muscles to balance yourself during your routines

-it's mobile enough to use with many different exercises that encourage the loss of belly fat

-works all of your core muscles at once (from your abs to your back)- far more than you can reach doing a basic crunch

2. Simply not using the ab equipment or not using it that much.

So I know this seems very obvious but there are plenty of people out there that do this and let the machine sit in a spare room as clutter. Maybe they expected something else, maybe it's a pain to return it, maybe they couldn't make the time or get energy to use it; either way, it becomes a dust collector.

On the flip side, I've known people who buy ab machines, use them quite a bit at first, then here and there but then give up because they're not getting the results they were promised or they don't look like the professionally trained fitness model shown on the infomercial. (Think about it, do you really believe those fitness models got the bodies they have by using an ab roller gadget?)

3. Not eating the foods of a healthy diet.

My motto is DIET IS KING as far as fat loss and getting six pack abs is concerned. It is an element that is very much responsible for the amount of belly fat you have hiding (or not hiding) your abs.

If you take part in eating processed foods or fast foods, no matter how much you exercise, you will not get the results of six pack abs. You will frankly be wasting your energy burning off what you eat and nothing more. It's a constant, unfulfilling cycle that won't get you far.

On the other hand, if you don't eat enough (because you're following a "low" whatever diet or you're starving yourself to lose weight) then you're really doing much more harm to your body than you think.

By not eating enough, you're not feeding your muscles so you end up losing muscle mass. Your muscles are supposed to convert fat to use for energy but if they're not well-fed, your body will end up using the muscle itself for fuel.

So in reality, it won't matter how hard you work out on an exercise ball or any piece of equipment because your body will use your muscle for energy, not for burning fat.

If you have money to waste and don't really care if you're fit or not, then by all means, collect all the ab gadgets you want. But I know that's not you, so don't make these mistakes the next time you want to buy ab exercise equipment.
