Car Donations For The Blind

Car donation and the blind is a combined fundraising technique involving organizations in need of people to donate cars to them so that they can support people with visual handicaps. Charities as well as their supporters work together to provide computer adaptive software that can enable a blind person to utilize the technology of computers without having the ability to see the screen. One charity's goal is to bridge the gap in getting computer hardware as well as software into a blind person's home. They can do this by allowing a charity to use the profits earned from a donated vehicle for the purchase of equipment or supplies. Such gifts are a wonderful way to help a charity fund raise in order to support their cause, in this case, the visually impaired. "I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame" (Job 29:15).

Organizations for the visually impaired get the Bible through Christian publishers as well as ministries that print and distribute the Bible in Braille without charge. Blind people read with their hands. Their fingers are receptive to touch, differentiating between combinations of raised dots called Braille. Combinations between one and eight dots create letters, numbers, words and word signs (a shorthand version of Braille). The Bible in Braille was unavailable until the mid 1920's. It is currently available in only 15 languages. The Braille Bible is quite large, consisting of 17 volumes. The average retail price for a Bible in Braille is about $810. This is an extremely high amount that most visually impaired people cannot afford. Our job as Christians is to spread the word of God to everyone, including the visually impaired. Car donation and the blind organizations that distribute the Bibles make this possible.

These organizations, as long as they are non-profit organizations, offer tax benefits to the donor. These tax benefits come in the form of a non-cash charitable contribution if the donor itemizes on his/her tax return. Aside from tax benefits, car donation and the blind charities offer the donor a chance to make a difference in a visually impaired person's life. Blind people need certain audio and tactile equipment to live independently in today's society. With limited job opportunities, most blind people do not have the funds to supplement their unique needs. Therefore, they must depend solely on government or car donation and the blind organizations to provide these unique items for them. As Christians we can obey the call of the Great Commission, making sure that everyone, even the visually impaired, can learn of God's saving grace and never ending love for us.
