Charitable Contributions

Charitable contributions are an earmark of the generosity of the American people throughout the history of the country. Founded on Christian principles, this nation has always extended a helping hand at home or abroad through assistance of many kinds. Whether a local need or an international crisis, Americans have traditionally been unusually benevolent through charitable contribution offerings. Throughout the course of history, no nation has ever tried to lift the weight of human suffering through material assistance as has the United States.

The many non-profit agencies that operate solely on gifts from the public are indicative of the generous nature of most Americans. The scope of needs that the charitable contributions throughout the country address is staggering. Organizations that help the poor and uneducated have been some of the early charitable contribution causes in the country. There has been a growing awareness of human suffering through victim awareness groups such as those that solicit assistance in many forms for victims of rape, domestic violence, and childhood abuse.

Tax-deductible gifts are used to fund organizations that help the physically infirmed such as the blind, deaf and handicapped. Organizations that promote research for cures for AIDS, cancer, MS and other debilitating diseases operate largely on charitable contributions. A charitable contribution for many organizations can come in the form of money, used furniture, used vehicles, cell phones, and almost any other item or financial means of donating known to man. A valuable gift can even be made through a donor's profession as he may want to donate some medical care or dental help to the needy through some organization.

The list is almost endless as to what can be donated for a gift to a variety of national and local charity organizations. Charitable contributions to a non-profit organization is tax deductible and the donor will receive a statement from most groups as to the estimated worth of the item donated or a statement as to the amount of cash that was donated. Making a charitable contribution to a special cause that tugs at a person's heart strings can give almost as much satisfaction as the one receiving the gift. For the person who is interested in making a gift of any kind, there are a multitude of online charity organizations that are more than willing to answer any question a donor may have regarding their operations and projects. "He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord." (Psalm 112:7)
