Free Medical Insurance

Free medical insurance is available only through federal or state government programs. People with low income or those who have no income can qualify for insurance through a government sponsored program. Many families in America are living at or below the poverty level today. They cannot afford to pay for medical coverage and they need assistance. Health care costs are continually rising and since many people have no coverage at all, they simply do not seek medical attention. In the event of an emergency, free health insurance could make a substantial difference.

Many programs that insure others at no charge are available only to children. Every state in the nation has a free medical insurance program for infants, children, and even teens. It is offered to children in working families, including those with varying immigration status. Free health insurance will cover doctor's visits, prescription medicines, hospitalizations, and much more. Children without current coverage are most likely eligible, even if the parents are working. Each state has different rules to determine eligibility, but most states will offer help to children who are eighteen years old and younger.

Factors that influence eligibility for free health coverage are the total family income and the number of family members. For example, in many states a family of four can earn income of up to thirty-four thousand dollars per year and the children will still qualify for free medical insurance. Since the cost of health care premiums have risen so much in recent years, many employers cannot afford to offer health coverage. Those that do, often cannot pay the entire premium. More often, employers can only pay a small portion of the group premium forcing the employee to pay most of the cost. This has pressured the states to develop their own free health insurance programs.

Coverage offered by the federal government is usually only available to families on welfare or people who are disabled and have no other income. The families that are working hard to provide for their families often cannot afford to pay super sized health insurance premiums, but they do not qualify for free medical insurance programs such as Medicaid. The only solution is for the state governments to step in and provide much needed assistance. Just as God cares and provides for His children, the government is supposed to care and provide for the people. "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be on his shoulder." (Isaiah 9:6)
