Consumers can receive a credit report online, in order to have a clear understanding of the information that is being presented to potential lenders, employers, landlords, and others. In years past, consumers applied for credit cards, mortgages for their homes, and for insurance, never really understanding what determined their acceptance, denial, or high interest rates. But, as society turns to financing more and more, consumers are becoming savvy about their financial history and ratings. Consumers are very aware of the need to keep these records in a certain condition, so they want to see, review, and control what is being reported about their finances. Today, individuals can see their credit report on line, often at no cost. "A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion." (Psalm 112:5)
Utilizing the Internet to receive financial records and documents is very simple. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) consumers have the right to receive and view this information. People who have been denied financing because of a poor financial score can receive one free credit report on line from the same bureau that supplied the information to the lender. If the individual prefers, a copy of the credit report online can be mailed directly to them through traditional postage means. Also, with the FCRA, consumers are entitled to one free viewing online each year from all of the three national reporting bureaus. When logging onto the Internet, the individual must simply type in the key words "free credit report on line" and search several websites that offer more information and guidance on this subject.
When a lending agency runs a credit report online, they are looking for a numerical point system that scores the consumer. These numbers are generally between 375 and 900. The higher the score, the more responsible the consumer, or the more likely this individual is to pay their bills in a timely manner. Lower scores can mean risk, and insurance agencies and mortgage companies will charge larger interest fees and premiums for those that have a low financial rating. The median score for Americans is 723. When consumers check their credit report on line, finding a 700 score or above will allow them to easily obtain financing and emergency funding when needed.
Managing this financial information is fairly simple when the consumer receives his or her credit report online. This will allow anyone to quickly identify problems or incorrect information that can be affecting the financial record of the individual. It is also helpful to see what companies are making unauthorized inquiries, if any, because these multiple inquiries can affect a rating. Being aware of what factors contribute to the scoring process can help consumers avoid the pitfalls of innocent misuse or slight abuse, knowing that every point counts when it comes to needing major financial help or a good interest rate.
