New Mexico travel can open a unique world to visitors who would like to see a variety of landscapes and recreational activities not found in the other 49 states. Many unique adventures in culture can be found in this southwestern state such as Indian art. A trip to this area will satisfy the tastes of anyone wanting to buy Native American art. The reason for the state choosing "The Land of Enchantment" as their motto becomes obvious when enjoying this haunting land. Rocks and desert sands burst into color under the New Mexico sun, and the changing shadows from morning to sunset keep the panorama from ever feeling "fixed" or boring. There are a number of festivals that can be included in anyone's travel plans. In September alone there is a Harvest Wine Festival, and a Motorcycle Rally taking place.
There are two totally opposite recreation activities that can be included in travel itineraries here: one can bathe in hot springs to relax, or explore the ice caves. The hot springs bubble up from deep underground, and the ice cave is the interior of a lava tube, where the temperature remains a constant 31F. In the city of Santa Rosa, New Mexico travel includes a spring-fed well that is 81' deep where scuba divers can enter the ethereal underwater world of clear blue water. Weekend equipment can be rented by visitors, and mid-week it is open for certified divers and groups.
For the adventurous hiker looking at going to this state just north of the Mexican border, the Bisti Badlands is a stretch of shifting sand and rocks in the high desert they shouldn't miss. The rocks in the Bisti Badlands have unusual shapes, and look as though they were sculptured by a prehistoric hand. If birding is the tourist's passion, that is another fun thing to include in New Mexico travel plans. "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles" (Isaiah 40:31a).
Museums are available in trip arrangements. Look for destinations where the cultures and art of the area are on display. One of the more interesting cultural exhibits can be found in Kokopelli's Cave, where prehistoric communities dwelt. For more modern exhibit enthusiasts, the Space Museum should be included in New Mexico travel plans. Besides the caves and deserts already mentioned, there is another place with a fascinating landscape for hikers who are planning to go to this state, and that is the Valley of Fires. Only 1,000 to 1,500 years ago, there was a lava flow that has left behind 125 miles of twisted black lava--the youngest lava flow in the U.S. Bring good hiking shoes. No need to travel to a foreign country for vacation when travel in this beautiful and semi-wild state can offer such a variety of landscapes and activities to its visitors.
