Acne - A Natural Way Of Treating It

By Dave Bern

Acne is not a skin condition that teenagers suffer from today, there are many adults who also suffer from this particular skin complaint as well. Luckily for these people there are now plenty of different treatments available to help deal with this problem and although effective some do contain chemicals which could be harmful to ones skin.

This is probably one of the main reasons why so many people are now looking for a more natural way of treating their acne. As you will soon discover for yourself many of the natural acne treatments one can use today contain no chemicals and so the chances of your skin becoming irritated, dried out or damaged by them are greatly reduced.

Even though quite a few people do not believe that natural ways of treating acne are as effective as over the counter or prescription medications this is simply not the case. In fact the vast majority of natural acne treatments one can use today for this particular skin condition are indeed very effective.

One of the most effective natural treatments for acne is tea tree oil. It is a golden color and will have been distilled from the leaves of certain plants using steam. This particular natural treatment has been used for many centuries by the Australian indigenous people not only for medicinal purposes but for cosmetic ones as well.

This oil is effective at treating acne because it contains high anti-bacterial properties which can kill off the bacterium that lies under the skin and causes the acne to erupt. Never apply this particular treatment to your skin in undiluted form but mix a small quantity (1 part) to water (20 parts) as is could be harmful to your skin if not.

In fact because of its effectiveness many acne products being produced today which contain benzoyl peroxide in them are being remade using tea tree oil instead. This is because the results it provides the user with are very similar to those of the chemical benzoyl peroxide and are certainly not as harmful.

For those with sensitive skin using a tea tree oil based acne treatment is far gentler for their skin and less likely to cause it to dry out when being used. However, if you want to not only treat the acne but also help to improve the condition of your skin overall a product that contains both tea tree oil and Aloe Vera would be a good choice.

As well as tea tree oil another natural treatment for acne that is proving to be effective is the spice turmeric. But unlike tea tree oil which is one of the best acne treatments available this one can be taken orally as well as applied directly to the skin where the acne has erupted. Although it does not contain anti-bacterial properties, turmeric instead contains antiseptic properties which can help to fight and kill off the acne bacterium.

When taken orally it is best to mix a small amount of the turmeric into a cup of warm milk and drink prior to going to bed at night. As for the topical application mix some turmeric into a smooth creamy paste with either coconut oil or sesame oil. Then apply directly to the affected skin around 20 minutes prior to going to bed to allow it to dry and so you do not get any on your pillow. Then leave it on overnight and you will be astounded at the difference in the sizes of your acne spots the following morning.
