Acne Bacteria: Does It Really Cause Acne?

By Mike Walden

The first thing that we must understand is that acne breakouts occur due to an imbalance in our body's function. An acne bacterium does not cause acne but is responsible for the inflammation in and around the acne. Medication applied to the acne kills the bacteria superficially thereby reducing the inflammation but does not assure you of acne free skin permanently. For that we need to tackle the problem from within.

Acne is not just a skin problem

Practitioners of conventional medicine describe acne as a skin inflammation. This condition is caused largely by factors on the skin surface, the principal one being an excess of sebum and keratin being produced by the oil glands.

The excessive oil blocks the pores of the hair follicle and this leads to the growth of bacteria. As the growth of bacteria increases, small pimples appear, both on the surface of the skin and directly underneath. The ones above the surface are called blackheads and the ones below the surface are called whiteheads.

In reality, the cause of acne lies way below the surface of the skin. It's not the immediate signs that you have to tackle - not the inflamed skin, not the investigations of the skin type, not the excessive production of oil, nor the clogged hair follicles or the bacteria on your skin - none of these. Acne is formed because deep rooted factors develop an environment which is conducive to its formation and growth.

Acne is a condition, NOT a disease

Acne is the body's way of telling us that all is not right with the internal functioning of our various organs. Always bear in mind that acne is the result or symptom of a malfunction of our system and is not a disease of the skin as most medical experts would like us to believe.

However, if you go along with the doctors views then you will fail to look for the root cause of the problem which is causing the acne. You will not understand that your body is giving you signals via the acne to look for the inner imbalance.

The inner natural balance needs to be restored so that your skin becomes acne free and your health returns to its normal state. You will not need to use the creams, ointments or antibiotics that the skin specialist prescribes.

You will obviously wonder why doctors insist on labeling acne as a malfunction of the skin. The reason is that they can make more money by making you buy the worthless antibiotics and lotions.

The usefulness of the acne bacteria

Yes acne bacteria, like all other types of bacteria are there for a purpose. These organisms or p acne bacteria as they are called are found on everybody's skin. Their job is to attack other more virulent bacteria and to protect and maintain the natural balance of our skin.

Even if you don't suffer from acne you will find that the acne bacterium is present on your skin. It has a very important role as guardian of our skin and also in ensuring the skin's elasticity.

The secretions from our sweat and sebaceous glands are what the acne bacteria feed itself on. This is normal for everyone whether they have acne or not.

Acne bacteria do NOT cause acne and is not contagious. Obviously, as otherwise every single individual would have contracted acne since the bacteria is in all of us. Then why is it that only some unfortunate souls land up being afflicted?

It is comparable to streptococcus bacteria which also is present in every human being. But it doesn't lead to everyone getting tonsillitis or a strep throat, does it? Because, like acne bacteria, it cannot grow and develop unless a conducive atmosphere exists in the body of the individual.

It is the environment which counts (the acne triangle of oil-toxins-bacteria)

Acne develops when the glands producing sebum oil are over stimulated and an excessive amount is produced. This is usually caused by excessive hormonal activity. The extra sebum oil, when it mixes with blood toxins expelled through the skin, causes acne to be formed because this mixture causes bacteria to grow and develop alarmingly, leading to pus formation and inflammation.

Please understand that it is not possible to root out acne by destroying the bacteria as that would only be a short term solution. Unless you root out the cause of the bacterial growth, it will continue to trouble you every time sebum oil is produced in excessive quantities and the excess mixes with blood toxins.

This is why antibiotics such as tetracycline, benzoyl peroxide or monocycline have little effect in the longer term. Instead of honing in on the root cause of the malady and nipping it in the bud, all they do is destroy the acne bacteria.

How to tackle acne

We know what conditions cause the acne bacteria to flourish superficially on the skin. Now we need to find out what causes hormonal imbalance or the build up of toxins in our body. Only then can we get rid of the acne permanently.

This nexus is created on the surface of the skin because of a process that is affected by changes within the body. These changes are nutritional, hormonal, environmental and even psychological.

So if you want your skin to always be clear, you will have to combat the elements we mentioned above as these create the condition where bacteria intensify. However, you will always have to also ensure that the bacterium on your skin is kept at an optimal level.
