The Biggest Advantages of Interval Training

By Kyle Richey

Almost everyone is looking for a sure way to lose weight and gain muscle mass at the same time, but it can be hard to tell the different between scams and actual proven methods. It doesn't have to take hours at the gym to achieve the body you have always dreamed of, and equipment sold on infomercials shouldn't be trusted either.

If you want to gain muscle while losing weight, the way to go about it is to work on your body as a whole, which is what interval training does. Rather than running for hours and hours every week - which will only build leg muscle, interval training instead works on all of the muscle groups throughout your body in order to lose weight and build muscle evenly.

One of the key elements of interval training is the increasing level of intensity as you go and as you get stronger and more used to the workouts. You can choose to target specific muscle groups with exercises or do compound exercises that incorporate many muscle groups. With all of the possible exercises and routines, you can still interested while keeping your body guessing, which leads to great gains.

Unlike some other types of exercising, with interval training your muscles can recover fairly quickly from the workout. Instead of being sore for a week, and unable to workout to boot, you should be refreshed and ready to go in no time.

Interval training is unlike any other exercise program, since it is actually fun to perform. Instead of getting bored by running on a treadmill for an hour or doing the same exercise video over and over, you can try different exercises every day of the week. As long as exercises targeting the same muscle groups are performed, desirable results can be easily achieved.

By speeding up your metabolism without you having to work out for hours every time, interval training tells your body to start losing weight by exercising different muscle groups in each workout. This stimulates your metabolism, causing you to lose weight in a way which is both healthy and quick.

Interval training also fills the important function of working out your cardiovascular system. You don't need to do intensive cardio exercises for an hour or more - your heart and lungs are getting a workout as you do even low impact exercises! Your breathing and increased heart rate during workouts take care of this even as you work on other muscle groups.

Interval training isn't just a new fad or weight loss scam, but an actual way to lose unwanted fat and gain back muscle mass. By performing low impact exercises that work on the same or several muscle groups, you can burn off fat and tone your muscles at the same time. It won't leave the muscles sore and unable to work, but will provide even better results than any cardio exercise ever could.
