Credit Report Information

Credit report information is a file that contains an accurate record of an individual's payment history. There are people who are permitted by law to evaluate your financial account to objectively verify whether or not to grant a person credit. There are millions of active people in the United States who have charge accounts, student loans, or a home mortgage. As people pay their bills or apply for more financial increases, most lenders will provide a person's activity to the business bureaus. So, most of the account info comes directly from the companies that people do business with.

There are four types of items that deal with consumer credit report information: identifying accounts, financial standing, public records, and inquires on one's credit report info from lenders or companies. A person identifying this usually will consist of things like name, current and previous address, social security number, year of birth, current and past employment history, and marital status. The account summary includes financial obligations and interactions people have with banks, retailers, credit card issuers and any other sort of lender that he or she may have. And then there are dealings with public records. This includes any insight that is contained in state and county court records. One's public record summary would be bankruptcies, tax liens, and monetary judgments.

Nothing pertaining to race, medical history, religious preference, personal background, political preference, or criminal record has to do with one's credit report info. Any positive summary remains on a person's report for an indefinite period, though information about an account will cycle off of one's account if nothing new is reported for seven years. A closed account should fade away from one's report seven years after it is reported closed by the lender. Most negative marks stay on a person's account summary for up to seven years. Bankruptcies can hang around for up to ten years. Public knowledge can stay for up to seven years. Inquires may remain for up to two years. Inquires are key to be aware of when it comes to these types of dealings. Inquires indicate to other lenders that people have applied for new financial help that could result in added debt.

Potential lenders view various new inquires on one's credit report as a sign that they are overextending themselves. Employment data is modified and helps potential employers make hiring and promoting selections. The employment section of credit report info contains much of the same information about loans, lines of credit, and payment history. However, most of people's personal data is not included. Fortunately, Federal law limits how this knowledge can be used and by whom. A lender must supply verification that they will be using one's financial account summary for the sole function permissible by law. People are entitled to their own accounts from all three financial bureaus. Some offer credit report information free of charge annually and a person who is seeking to be a good steward should look into it
