Suffering from an anxiety disorder is not as rare as you might think. Even within the United States, about twenty percent of people suffer from some sort of anxiety disorder. There are different kinds of anxiety disorders - generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and different phobias. Studies show that women are more prone to anxiety disorders than men are.
There are many reasons why a person might develop an anxiety disorder. Genetically, some people are prone to anxiety disorders, or it might be due to the physiology of the person's brain. Factors like stress, unresolved issues etc can also lead to anxiety disorders.
Anxiety can be a real problem to live with, but it can be treated. The first step is recognizing the symptoms, which include chest pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, irritation, tension and insomnia.
There is plenty of help available for people who have anxiety disorders. There are medicines that they can take for anxiety. Even antidepressants can help control anxiety. There are also different kinds of therapy that a person suffering from anxiety can turn to. The two most common kinds are the behavior therapy and the cognitive therapy, though there are many people who find that a combination of the two is more helpful for them. Relaxation techniques like massages, breathing exercises and aromatherapy can help control anxiety.
There are also natural remedies for treating anxiety disorders and anxiety symptoms. Natural remedies include eating right to maintain blood sugar levels and exercising, as well as taking dietary supplements, such as a vitamin B complex. Anxiety disorders can be treated-or at the very least, its symptoms managed-so that you can exert control over the anxiety instead of anxiety having control over you.
