Direct Loan

Direct loans are in the form of Federal financing from the government that are available to students to pay for their education. This guaranteed financing can cover college tuition costs, or can be used to consolidate previous student loan debt, if the student has accumulated balances from several other lending sources. The interest rates for Federal financing can also vary. Part and full time students can apply for a direct loan and will begin paying back the amount six months after graduation. Getting an education is important to the future career growth and personal growth of any person, and Federal guaranteed financing is making is simple and easy for students to get the money they need to finish college and graduate school.

There are limits in lending amounts for undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate students may obtain direct loans for up to $2,600 dollars for each academic year. The amount increases with each academic year completed, giving sophomores and juniors up to $5,000 dollars per academic year. This amount also applies to seniors and graduate studies. There is a total cap with a direct loan, and this total amount of money extended over the length of an education is around $23,000 dollars per student. Independent students may be eligible for more funding, depending upon their living circumstances. If a student that needs to get funding for education is a parent or has been living out of their parents home for at least two years they are eligible for the independent student funding amount..

Before receiving federal funding, seek the advice of school counselors about the various programs available. The Bible teaches Christians to get counsel about difficult decisions, and trust the Lord to speak through others. "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." (Proverbs 11:14)The Internet can provide information on many types of different funding sources for students wanting to attend college and further their educations. There are websites online that offer facts and figures about direct loans and how they work. Would-be college students can also apply for a direct loan online with the Federal government.
