Government Surplus - Political Excess Equals Deep Discounts

By Bernice Freston

With inflation striking all around us and the economy in question it makes more sense then ever to find the best values when it comes to bigger ticket business and house items. Items such as property, vehicles, furniture and fixtures, electronics, machinery, jewellery, exercise equipment, etc. There are many places you can buy these types of items but one place you probably haven't considered, and probably has the best value for your buck is government surpluses.

These auctions happen often both locally and federally all over the country (US and Canada). Where do these items come from? The government purchases almost everything you can imagine, but priorities and projects are constantly in flux and many items never get used or the projects have finished and the items are still in near new condition. The government is forbiddin to maintain inventory purchasd by your tax dollars so they are mandated to be auction it back to the public.

How do you make extra income from government surplus properties and merchandise that you find in these auctions? Find items that are in the best shape, bid only as high as 30% of what the item would sell for at retail, and resell them for at least a 100% profit. It's a smart investment, one in which both you and your customers win. Many entrepreneurs make huge profits by going to government surplus auctions.

Where can I find information on the venues and dates of government surplus auctions? There are hundreds of websites that provide the what, when, and where of such events. You may even find photos and lists of the items up for auction, so you can prepare ahead of time.

But before you decide on joining these websites as mentioned earlier, you need to be extra careful. There are sites that are out to scam their members, asking them for a joining fee, but later on providing outdated and useless information on their websites. You end up paying, but not being able to make the most out of government surplus auctions.

What you can do is check out a government auction review site. They can provide the criteria of what to look for with government surplus's and what to look out for so you won't be scammed or mislead. They do the ground work and research so you don't have to.

A government auction review site will also provide ratings and information of government auction sites for each of the different govenment selling categories, and explain if they are quality enough for interested members to join. Thanks to their useful insight, you no longer have to worry about getting scammed by other sites.
