The biggest news out this week is the announcement of the first Android phone from Google, HTC and T-Mobile. T-Mobile already sent out invitations out to the paparazzi and meda to “experience the first Android-powered phone” tommorow (Tuesday), September 23rd.
There is a movie demo from Google that shows the device’s browsing and interface of the upcoming gadget. This new mobile device is heard to be priced at about $199 and “showcase the Google logo” and will also incorporate a swivel-out keyboard as well as an accelerometer with a large touch screen. This brand new platform seems to be something like the iPhone and will draw comparisons. Google is now promoting the opening of the openness of their new platform at this time when Apple is seeing some criticism about it’s App approving processes. Google will also be revealing it’s very own Android Market which will provide most developers witha central repository for application sales and distribution. At the revealing of the Google Android, the Android Market will only offer free apps, but also billing support should be coming out at a more later date. Unlike the App Store, of course the Android Market has no approval processes and any developer can upload any kind of application.
One of the most successful iPhone developers is y from the Android. His name is Steve Demeter, who has made headlines last week for making $250000 in sales of his new iPhone game called Trism, was told by AlleyInsider that the more availability of the handset models could bring in more migranes than it’s actually worth: “Do I want to be spending 6 months to write the game, and another 6 months making it compatible? If I had Trism available for Android, and there are 50 Android devices and every time one of them crashes (the users) contact me, do I want that?”
So instead, Demeter has been hiring and now is working on 5 more iPhone games.
