Home Loan For Teachers

A home loan for teachers is not as hard to find as one might imagine because many lenders feel that instructors are credible and upstanding citizens who accept their financial responsibilities. Although our educators have long been underpaid and under appreciated, there are special programs to assist them in obtaining a good deal when shopping for a mortgage. An Internet search for a home loan for a teacher yields over twenty six thousand responses. The United States Government and specific cities around the United States offer special discounts and helps for those in education who are looking for a good mortgage.

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD, in an effort to encourage educators to buy homes, offers a home loan for teachers at a 50 percent discount off the appraised value and a mere hundred dollars down. In Chicago, a program called Teachers Housing/Home Buying is supported by the Chicago Public schools. The program offers a full range of mortgages that includes fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. They have interest only payment programs, one hundred percent financing, and a Bridge Financing that allows educators to purchase a new house using the equity in their present house as a down payment. An educator who is attempting to procure a mortgage may even receive up to three thousand dollars towards closing costs. The application fee for a home loan for teachers may be deferred and the down payment may be as low as five hundred dollars for the first time buyer.

The California Department of Education has a grant program to help with a home loan for teachers as well as Massachusetts, which helps educators and school administrators obtain housing. Some banking institutions offer funding with up to one hundred percent financing of the sales price in a home loan for a teacher. State and government agencies offer down payment assistance grants and gifts to educators seeking mortgages.

Although there are many programs available for those seeking a home loan for a teacher, there are some restrictions on some. Many of the offers are in low to moderate income neighborhoods, which may or may not be a concern. And although the programs are numerous, they are not available in all states. An educator who is looking for this type of funding may first need to do some research in his area. But any person employed full time by a public or private school or Federal or State educational agency, is eligible for a home loan for a teacher. This career field is one of the most honorable positions in our society. Jesus was an instructor, and when we as believers choose this career field, we can be very effective. Because of our spiritual wisdom, we can apply Psalm 119:99 to our teaching. "I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation." The Christian educator is the backbone of our educational system.
