Insurance Affordable Health Care Major Medical Plans

By Thulas Sukati

Affordable health care is becoming a concern to many Americans nowadays. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. I am one of those people affected by these rises because a couple of years ago my companys health care plan was changed, resulting in fewer benefits. Just before Christmas, the company announced some changes including the replacement of our, now to expensive, health care supplier.

They said it was necessary if all their employees were to have the same level of health care. Although I am just as well looked after with this new policy, I am not entirely convinced. I don not mind other workers benefiting but it costs me more now, almost twice as much more to have my family covered in the plan. Other than a few exceptions, everyone else seems to benefit from this new arrangement but because I have not had a raise but I am taking a great deal less home so my family can have health cover.

My health care may still be very good despite the fact that the old company was much better than this new one. As far as I and some of my co-workers are concerned, the only real person to benefit form this new *affordable* health care arrangement is my company. You see, four years ago, I gave birth to a little girl and of course my old insurance paid for the whole of my hospital stay. Today, if I had a baby, it would cost me around four thousand dollars for my expenses.

Keep in mind that although I would have to pay hospital fees, there is also the small matter of my co-pays as well. The availability of affordable health care plans is on the increase which should help those less fortunate. Those less fortunate can now get free health care more readily and workers without health care are able to join special schemes. While I appreciate these programs because they are saving lives and helping people to grow stronger and healthier, some people take advantage of them.

Those less well off are in need of these affordable health care schemes but they are also used by those who are intent on living of the state and do not actually contribute to society. We all have a responsibility to help those less fortunate but those who abuse the system put extra financial pressure on the rest of us. By switching providers, it was my company that realized the true advantages of this low cost option and a number of employees. Many of the workers found themselves subsidizing the companys desire to save money yet still provide a scheme by ensuring that they paid in their paychecks. Something needs to be done in this country to offset rising costs and provide more affordable health care to those who are in need.
