Furthermore, having advertisements delivered to the individual may entice them to click the link to the company's website to shop or browse. Taking advantage of opportunities in the online mail market in this way can be one of the most affective methods of advertising through the Internet.

Consumers also can benefit from email Internet marketing promotions. The online market potentially offers consumers easy access to products, services, and companies with which they may not be familiar. Many people enjoy receiving information on new products or services, and can do so easily when they receive online promotional materials. Therefore, for business owners is it important to take advantage of the opportunities for a quick and easy market because of the great number of individuals who use their online service daily.

However, promoting a business through email Internet marketing also can have negative consequences, depending on different variables. Some people do not enjoy receiving advertising material delivered to them unsolicited. As with other types of online advertising, such as pop up ads, some people just do not want them. Furthermore, the messages often go to the junk mail filter and never make it to the individual's inbox. Companies can create a way for their ads to be sent to users with no junk mail filter, and send the advertisement directly to the user's inbox. In those cases, the individual must choose to remove that item from the junk mail section before it is deleted.

Other types of advertisements have been found to be less effective. For example, pop-ups usually are closed by the individual before the product or service is given a chance. Furthermore, banners are so small and appear on sections of a webpage or site that no one really takes the time to notice. With email Internet marketing promotions, however, the consumer has the opportunity to be wowed with a full page of color, music, and vivid images of the company's products or services.

There is also the opportunity to appeal to people through giveaways and sweepstakes that offer cash or prizes. Sometimes, email Internet marketing promotions are not as readily accepted by individuals. Many email programs offer junk mail filters where advertisements can be filtered away from the inbox and do not have to be read by the individual to be deleted. Using email and similar technology to promote a company or product can be either positive or negative, depending on the opinions of the individuals who receive the email Internet marketing.

While advertising online can be a useful tool for businesses, it can be a snare for those who get caught up in the new products of services being promoted. When an online user sees something they need, it is good to check into the viability of what is being offered. However, remember not to shop for the sake of shopping because the Bible warns us to "be content with such things as ye have" (Hebrews 13:5).
