Hotel Franchises

Hotel franchises can be a great opportunity for the individual who wants to own and operate a business that offers lodging, recreational activities, meeting facilities, and other events. Owning a hotel franchise can bring a lot of profit without as many of the hurdles that independent hotel owners deal with. Both current owners and people new to the business can get into a franchise. There are thousands for sale from Motel 8 to Radisson. Before considering investing in this opportunity, business entrepreneurs will need to determine if it is right for them.

Investing as a franchisee in any company will require a great deal of money up front. New business owners considering a hotel franchise will have to invest thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars to purchase a piece of land and have an establishment built. There is also the costs of equipment, furniture, uniforms, etc., and the costs will quickly add up. Owners who are changing their location into a franchise will save some money on these costs. In either case, purchasing hotel franchises means purchasing the name and becoming a member of the company. The more popular the name, the more expensive it is to brandish the name.

There are many rules and regulations that come with this type of business venture. Anyone thinking of purchasing a hotel franchise must be willing to adhere to these rules. They are also held accountable to the headquarters for financial records, inventory and employees. They also have to pay money to the headquarters out of their profit for advertising and royalties. This amount varies depending on the company. Fortunately, hotel franchises reap the benefits of less expensive, bulk inventory since it is purchased through an account with the franchise headquarters. These organizations also don't require as much sales and marketing since the headquarters has already established a name for the company throughout the country and possibly the world. Customers are more likely to stay at a hotel they've seen a commercial for than a mom-and-pop establishment they've never heard of.

Like any job or business venture, this requires commitment and dedication. The owner is expected to maintain the image of the hotel franchise. Although some headquarters will help with problems, they are not going to do the managers' and owners' jobs for them. Owners need to be able to work well with others. They may have to lend inventory to a sister company downtown or send over an employee. Christian businessmen and owners want to carefully consider what hotel franchises they get involved with. Some have policies that aren't consistent with Christian beliefs, especially when it comes to the types of entertainment available on the room televisions. Christian businessman will want to seek out a company that upholds family values. "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold". (Proverbs 22:1)
