Anyone can donate a boat to a charity or nonprofit organization and help the less fortunate with the proceeds from the sale. People who donate boats find they gain a great deal of satisfaction knowing the money will help in many ways. If someone currently owns a vessel they are not using, they should consider this option as a way to get rid of the vehicle in a practical and rewarding way. If they choose this option, the charity will repair the watercraft, if needed, and sell it. The consumer will be able to claim fair market value on their taxes when they make this donation with a receipt from the charity or nonprofit organization. The IRS has very strict regulations when donating vehicles and other large items, so the consumer must make sure to check out all the laws regarding this situation.
There are many organizations that will allow people to provide this type of donation. There are medical associations dedicated to diseases such as cancer or diabetes that would be happy for a person to donate a boat. Non-profit organizations like the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army will allow individuals to donate boats as a way to raise money for disaster relief. There are also agencies that will work with both individuals and organizations to provide funds from the sale of a watercraft. They will pick up the boat and arrange for sale, at very little or no cost to the individual. Once sold, the money is donated to the charity or charities that are designated by the individual. "Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus." (1 Peter 5:14)
In light of all the natural disasters happening world wide, now is a good time to take up a cause and make donations of money, time, and belongings. The charities who deal with disaster relief are in desperate need of funds. If a person wants to donate a boat that is no longer in use, the money from the sale can help tremendously. The disasters of the last few years have put a great strain on the pocketbooks of the agencies who deal with disaster relief. The coffers of these agencies have been drained and they are in desperate need of cash. People who donate boats are a blessing to these agencies. The large amount of cash that can be made when someone wants to donate a boat to an agency can help replenish the accounts that are needed to assist people whose lives have been devastated.
