Best Charity Organizations

The best charity organizations are those that offer full disclosure of their financial statements and can provide effective reports about the progress they make in their designated work. If a person is interested in determining which are the best charities to receive his donations, there are several factors to consider. He may have a particular area of social concern, and finding an organization that provides help in that area will most likely be the group for him. However, there are many organizations within any particular area of social concern, so finding the most focused group is important for any donor.

By definition, these are non-profit organizations; most people assume that their donations are going directly to the stipulated cause. A little research of each group will reveal much about its financial operations as to whether it is the best charity. This type of research can allow the giver to make an informed decision as to how he wants his donation used. Many of the best charities are large, professional groups that operate on huge budgets and significant overhead. Groups that aid children overseas, disaster relief, health crises, and many others usually manage large donations through central administrative costs.

The financial accountability of the organization should be well-documented. Many of the groups have wide-spread impact and huge financial and organizational requirements. They may use a portion of every donated dollar toward administrative costs, and an important aspect of the research is finding out what percentage of the gift will be used for administrative costs. The best charity groups can tell a giver how much of its individual donations go toward administration. If a person is concerned that his dollars may not go completely toward the designated projects, he may prefer to check with some smaller groups that guarantee every penny given goes toward the designated need.

These non-profit organizations can be some of the most efficient because of their identification with the hands-on, personal approach to their projects. If a giver prefers more of the traditional, less-corporate format, a local or smaller national group may be more to his liking. The best charities can be found among the large, well-funded groups or among the smaller, personally committed causes. No matter the size or cause, however, the best charity offers complete, fiscal accountability and honesty with the public regarding operations and management. Check out the one of interest online through the BBB or at the local charity registration office and other watch-dog groups. "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk even as he walked" (1 John 2:6). Giving to these groups is a part of our Christian heritage and training.
