Football Boot Care
After a match or a practice session, you need to prepare your boots for your next wearing. Taking care of your football boots improves their performance and wearable life. So to do so please follow these steps:
1. When you take off your football boots you should always undo the laces correctly first.
2. Always clear away any turf or soil stuck on the sole of your football boots. Either by banging them together (sole to sole) or by using a brush. This is vital! Not just for the appearance of the football boots, but to prolong football boot life as mud can suck moisture out of the leather and ruin them.
3. Clean the exterior of the football boots with a damp cloth, to remove any excess soil, mud or turf.
4. Fill your boots with old paper to dry the interior of your football boots and to make sure that your football boots keep their shape. Then put them in a cool place in the shade to dry. Never heat dry your football boots as they age quickly and crack (Dry rot).
5. If you have screw in studs, you must grease them once every 14 days to make sure they don't rust.
6. Polish the exterior of your boots with either boot polish or a waterproofing spray. Never use oil or detergents!
I hope that this guide on football boot care has educated you on how to look after your football boots to ensure that they stay in good condition. "Remember a footballer's most important piece of equipment is his or her boots".
