Can Christians really take part in such a celebration? Perhaps the best Halloween ideas, for Christians, at least, is to leave the entire questionable night alone. The Bible teaches that Christians are to be representatives of Christ and Christ overcame death so that we might live and now we are to live as children of light. "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light." (Ephesians 5:8) Christians are called to not partake in or with anything that might dishonor Christ, things that are dark and death exalting. "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

It's difficult for Christians to know what to do when there are so many expectations about this night of fright. Should the entire event be watered down with an emphasis on fall in an attempt to draw attention away from the evil? Or maybe a good Halloween idea might be to recreate hell. But the Bible teaches us that we are to speak of the joys of Heaven and what those who belong to Christ can look forward to. Hell is a real place of despair and not joy, and the Christian is to be joyful in the security that Christ offers through salvation. Any Halloween ideas, or any association with a night that is set aside to honor the horrors of death, and that witches use to cast spells, and satanic followers use to worship the Satan, should be given no value by Christians.
